After a busy day in New York City, in which several of her closest friends celebrated
her pregnancy by throwing her a baby shower, the Duchess of Sussex, 37, stepped out for
a fancy dinner at Ralph Lauren's restaurant The Polo Bar.
Joining the mom-to-be on Tuesday evening were pals Serena Williams, Jessica Mulroney, and
Markus Anderson — all of whom have been close friends with her for years. Serena and
Jessica were also at Meghan's shower earlier in the day.
Meghan was glowing as she entered the restaurant, located in the heart of Manhattan, wearing
a navy Victoria Beckham coat— the same one she wore on Christmas Day — the "Nearly
Skinny Maternity" jeans by Hatch Maternity, and black Tamara Mellon boots.
The royal also carried a black leather Stella McCartney purse and accessorized with a black
scarf to stay warm. Meghan was greeted outside by Markus and the
close pals walked into the swanky restaurant together smiling arm-in-arm.
Markus, who reportedly introduced Meghan to Prince Harry, wore a denim ensemble with a
pale pink scarf wrapped around his neck and a navy beanie.
Serena, 37, who arrived on her own, kept it simple for the night out and opted for a black
sweater with black jeans. She paired the look with black combat boots and a long black coat
with pink plaid lining the sides to give the outfit some flair.
The tennis star, who's been friends with Meghan since meeting at the Super Bowl in
2010, also had her hair pulled into a ponytail, wore black square-rimmed glasses with tape
in the center, and carried a black purse. Meanwhile, Toronto-based stylist Jessica,
who has styled Meghan in the past and whose three children served important roles in Meghan's
bridal party at her royal wedding, showed up to the event solo in a Mackage plaid trench
coat and a black ensemble underneath. Earlier in the day, Meghan was seen outside
New York City hotel The Mark, where her baby shower was being held.
The Duchess of Sussex wore dark Le Spec sunglasses and styled her hair in a classic blowout,
placing a hand on her baby bump over her vintage grey coat as she headed out. She completed
her look with the "Nearly Skinny Maternity" jeans by Hatch Maternity as well as beige
heels and a matching handbag by Carolina Herrera. Abigail Spencer, who appeared with Meghan
on Suits, arrived at the hotel holding a gift bag decorated with green and blue flowers.
The actress shared a photo of herself on Instagram making her way through an airport on Monday.
Meghan and Abigail left The Mark to check out some art at the nearby Met Breuer before
grabbing a bite to eat at French restaurant Café Boulud, inside the Surrey Hotel, a few
blocks away. They then returned to The Mark. Besides Serena and Jessica, other friends
reported to also be on the guest list included Priyanka Chopra and Misha Nonoo. Meghan's
mother, Doria Ragland, was spotted in Los Angeles on the day of the celebration.
Decorations believed to be for the bash, including dozens of floral arrangements, were delivered
outside the The Mark on Tuesday. News that Meghan was in New York for a surprise
five-day trip broke on Monday. The mini-homecoming — the former actress
hails from Los Angeles, where her mother Doria still resides — comes shortly before Meghan
and Harry, 34, are heading to Morocco for a three-day visit highlighting two of their
key causes: girls' education and youth empowerment.
