Rumours of a feud between the sisters-in-law Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, have circulated for months
But it has now been reported that the real rift, in fact, is between the Dukes themselves, rather than their wives
William and Harry, once seemingly the closest of brothers, now barely speak to one another, royal sources claim
ITV's royal editor, Chris Ship, wrote: "No one is entirely sure what triggered it, or whether it's related to one issue or many issues, but in royal circles, few will deny that there has been a fraternal rift – and it's made things more than a little tricky
" There is said to have been a "complete and utter breakdown of communication" between the brothers, and neither was willing to rectify the issue
Now, the Duchess of Cambridge has reportedly stepped in, realising it might take her touch to fix the rift before Harry becomes a dad
Over Easter, Prince William, Kate and Harry headed to church with the Queen in Windsor
William and Harry were barely photographed together, and weren't seen speaking or acknowledging each other
The day served as an opportunity for Kate to try patch things up between the two
The Duchess allegedly suggested Prince Harry extend an olive branch to her husband - and it seems he did
After the Easter service at Windsor, Harry and Meghan - who didn't attend the service as she has retreated from the public eye as she awaits the baby - invited the Cambridges to their new home at Frogmore Cottage
The once-dubbed 'fab four' were reported to have had tea and chatted for around 3 minutes, according to the Mirror
After the meeting, a royal source says that the brother's relationship is now "back on track"
On Thursday, Kate and Harry attended the ANZAC Day Service at Westminster Abbey, which royal aides said was a sign the families were supporting each other
A source said: "The Duchess and Harry have developed a very close bond over the years
"Kate is acutely aware of the importance of William and Harry getting along, not just because of perception but their collective responsibility to the monarchy as a whole
"Harry has acted as counsel to his brother throughout William and Kate's more turbulent years, and the three of them had gone on to form the most tremendous partnership
" With Harry and Meghan about to become parents, it seems a good time to repair the once-close relationship
Rumours of the rift began circulating last year when Meghan and Harry announced they were moving out of Kensington Palace
